The CIRM

The International Centre for Microbial Resources

CIRM is a scientific interest group (GIS) founded in 2004 by the Microbiology and Food Chain Department (MICA) of INRAE in order to preserve and promote its collections of micro-organisms. The GIS CIRM associates several partners (dedicated page).

It brings together 5 microbiological resource centres (BRCs) specialised in the conservation, distribution and characterisation of 15,000 pure strains of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, yeasts) of interest for agronomic and environmental research. All CIRM's BRCs are certified (ISO9001), in accordance with the OECD charter, to ensure the quality and continuous improvement of their services.
