A Biological Resource Center dedicated to the preservation and characterization of bacteria of food interest, with a special focus on fermented and/or bio-preserved foods.

The CIRM-BIA catalog proposes more than 4000 strains, promoting diversity (> 160 species, 30 genera). The number of strains is constantly increasing by sampling and collecting from various biotopes. The strains are selected in order to offer the greatest possible diversity, both from a taxonomic and functional point of view, and are made available to the scientific, academic and industrial community for teaching, research and industrial development purposes.
